FM27 wonderkid forwards

Forwards are the most expensive wonderkids and the fastest to lose value. A winger who cannot beat a full-back in his first two seasons rarely becomes the player his potential suggested. That is why the tables below separate wide forwards from strikers, and why the notes focus on the attributes the engine actually rewards.

Left wingers

Player Age Club Nation Potential
Rio Ngumoha 17 Liverpool England 92
Yan Diomandé 19 Real Madrid Ivory Coast 90
Alphadjo Cisse 19 AC Milan Italy 88
Gianluca Prestianni 20 Benfica Argentina 88
Gabriel Mec 18 Porto Brazil 88
Ryunosuke Sato 19 Valencia Japan 87
Noah Fernandez 18 PSV Netherlands 86
Saïd El Mala 19 Köln Germany 86
Jesús Rodríguez 20 Como Spain 86
Flávio Gonçalves 19 Sporting Portugal 86
Luis Fragozo 16 Emelec Ecuador 85
Adil Hamdani 17 Lyon France 85
Jeremy Monga 17 Man City England 85
Pedro 20 Zenit Brazil 85

Ngumoha is the best left-sided teenager in the game and the only one who can change a match in his first season. He is direct, two-footed and already fast enough to beat a Premier League full-back.

Diomandé is the physical monster of the group: 90 potential, 19 years old, and a running power that suits a high press.

Fragozo and Hamdani are the value picks at 85. Both are 16–17, both are on wages under £100 a week, and both will be squad players by 20 if they get minutes.

Right wingers

Player Age Club Nation Potential
Lamine Yamal 19 Barcelona Spain 99
Estêvão 19 Chelsea Brazil 92
Roony Bardghji 20 Barcelona Sweden 89
Ben Gannon Doak 20 Bournemouth Scotland 89
William Gomes 20 Porto Brazil 88
Ibrahim Mbaye 18 Aston Villa France 87
Ethan Nwaneri 19 Arsenal England 87
Hugo Camberos 19 Chivas Mexico 87
Ethan Mbappé 19 Lille France 87
Ilies Belmokhtar 18 Monaco Morocco 87
Tyler Dibling 20 Everton England 86
Joshua Abe 15 Liverpool England 85
Jan Virgili 19 Club Brugge Belgium 85
Assane Diao 20 Como Spain 85

Yamal is the only 99 in the database and the best player in the game under 21. If you can afford him, buy him; there is no tactical reason not to.

Estêvão is the second-best winger and the more attainable one. A 92 ceiling at Chelsea, with senior minutes and a fee that a Champions League club can structure.

Abe at 15 with 85 potential is the cheapest long-term bet on the page. He will not be usable for three years, but the wage is negligible and the ceiling is real.

Strikers

Player Age Club Nation Potential
Däulet Orynbasar 17 Qaırat-Jastar Kazakhstan 91
Eli Junior Kroupi 20 Bournemouth France 90
Endrick 19 Real Madrid Brazil 89
Jayden Danns 20 Liverpool England 88
Jacob Ambæk 18 Brøndby Denmark 87
Carlos Espí 20 Real Madrid Spain 87
Christian Kofane 19 Leverkusen Cameroon 87
Harry Gray 17 Leeds England 87
Antonio Arena 17 Roma Italy 87
Laciné Megnan 16 Montpellier France 87
Hamza Abdelkarim 18 Barcelona Egypt 86
Dastan Satpayev 17 Chelsea Kazakhstan 86
Ryan Francisco 19 São Paulo Brazil 85
Chido Obi 18 Man Utd Denmark 85

Orynbasar is the best value striker in the game: 91 potential at 17, at a Kazakh club, on a wage of around £600 a week. He is the first name on any cheap-wonderkid shortlist.

Kroupi is the most ready. A 90 ceiling at 20, with Premier League minutes and the movement to play as an advanced forward immediately.

Megnan at 16 with 87 potential is the long-term project: a French striker at Montpellier, on a wage under £3k, who can be loaned for two seasons and then sold for a profit if he does not make it.

What the engine rewards

The match engine in FM27 is more sensitive to movement than to finishing. A striker with 17 off the ball and 14 finishing will score more than one with 12 off the ball and 17 finishing, because the first gets into the positions where the chances are.

For wingers, the order is acceleration, dribbling, then end product. A winger who cannot beat his man will not create, however good his crossing is.

For strikers, the order is off the ball, acceleration, then finishing. A poacher with no movement is a passenger.

Check the role before the rating

An advanced forward needs pace and movement. A pressing forward needs work rate and aggression. A target forward needs height and strength. A 90-potential striker in the wrong role is a 75-potential player.

The development problem

Forwards develop faster than defenders but plateau earlier. A striker who is not a regular by 21 is unlikely to become one. That makes the loan decision urgent: if he cannot start for you at 19, loan him to a club where he will start every week.

The best development path for a young forward:

  1. 17–18: under-21 football plus cup appearances.
  2. 19: loan to a lower-league club, 30 starts.
  3. 20: loan to a mid-table club in a better league, or a squad role at home.
  4. 21–22: first-team starter or sold.

A forward who spends three years on your bench will not reach his potential, whatever the training says.

Who to avoid

The 20-year-old with no senior goals. Check the record, not the rating.

The winger with no pace. The engine will not let him beat a full-back, and the effectiveness gauge will drop.

The striker at a club that will not sell. Some names on this list are simply unavailable in the first three seasons. Scout the second tier of the list instead.

A realistic front line

For a mid-table club with £60m:

  • One ready winger at 88+ (Cisse or Prestianni).
  • One striker at 87+ who can start now (Kroupi or Danns).
  • One 16–17-year-old at 85+ for the under-21s (Megnan or Fragozo).
  • One cheap senior forward on a free transfer as cover.

That front line scores enough to finish top half, and it has two players who will be worth double the fee in three seasons. The free agent page covers the senior cover, and the best tactics page shows which roles suit which forward.
